Job description

MINERVA is currently under construction and represents the first phase of the MYRRHA project. MYRRHA is an international R&D project focused on the transmutation of nuclear waste. The development of the world’s first research accelerator connected to a molten lead-bismuth reactor is unique in Europe. As Head of the Nuclear Facilities (NFS) Expertise Group, you will play a key role in the design and realization of the MINERVA project. The Nuclear Facilities include the buildings and conventional systems (e.g., Process, HVAC, Electricity, Drainage, etc.) of the project, with an estimated value of ~125 million EUR.

Your responsibilities:

As group leader, you are responsible for both the technical and administrative management of the NFS expertise group. You ensure smooth collaboration between internal teams and external partners, and monitor planning and budgets. Specifically, this includes:

  • Coordination of the integration of the accelerator and target station into buildings and conventional systems
  • Design of buildings and conventional systems and their integration into the overall installation, supported by an external engineering firm
  • Close follow-up of engineering firms and contractors: planning, design, budget/cost, and collaboration
  • Budget and planning management for MINERVA, Nuclear Facilities section
  • Leading an internal team of approximately 10 people
  • Acting as the lead official for the execution of various contracts

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in engineering (civil engineer)
  • Experience in designing and/or managing nuclear projects is a plus
  • Strong in project management: planning, budgets, deliverables
  • Knowledge of large installation design (process, civil engineering, utilities), preferably in the nuclear, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry
  • Experience in contract follow-up and supplier management
  • Strong communicator in an international and multidisciplinary team
  • Leadership, team orientation, and organizational talent
  • Proficient with IT applications
  • Language skills: Dutch, English, and French
