Job description

MYRRHA will be the world’s first sub-critical particle accelerator driven reactor, cooled by a lead-bismuth eutectic. Our main mission is to build MYRRHA and use it as a research reactor. But there’s still a lot of work to be done, such as constructing MINERVA – the project’s first phase that consists of a particle accelerator and user target facilities. We are ready to build this particle accelerator? Are you?

As a Programme Coordinator (Institute Deputy Director) you will:

  • coordinate the programme of MINERVA, consisting of a particle accelerator, the user target facilities and the related civil engineering and general infrastructure
  • report to the head of the MINERVA Design&Build institute within SCK-CEN; a Technical Coordinator is managing the technical coherence of the programme
  • monitor the programme goals and deduce the individual project goals, ensuring that the project activities remain in line with these goals
  • lead your direct reports in terms of quality management, project risk management and document management
  • relate with the programme management office of MYRRHA AISBL in view of cost/schedule planning and control
  • establish the programme's governance
  • establish the programme policies, guidelines and processes to be followed by all stakeholders, in particular the embedded project managers
  • establish the programme cost/schedule planning, and continuously monitor the integrated schedule, apply strict reporting paths with emphasis on EVM
  • relate with the embedded project managers, as required for the programme management, including supply chain management

Job requirements

  • a Master’s and/or PhD degree in physics, technical engineering or equivalent
  • at least 10 years’ experience in project management
  • being familiar with technical projects and with scientific/technical R&D environment is expected
  • proven experience with all project phases from initiation to closure
  • PRINCE2 or PMI certification is an advantage
  • excellent language skills in English, knowledge of Dutch and French is an additional asset
  • open-minded and communicative, being able to give clear directions
