Job description

At SCK CEN, the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of nuclear science since 1952. With unique infrastructure like our hot cells, we conduct cutting-edge research into the effects of radiation on materials. Want to be part of this pioneering environment? Then this role is for you!

Your Responsibilities
As a Technical Operator in the Hotlab, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of our nuclear infrastructure. You’ll work in a high-tech environment where safety, precision, and teamwork are key.

Key Tasks
• Maintenance and repair of nuclear installations (telemanipulators, HVAC, vacuum pumps, compressed air systems)
• Internal transport and handling of radioactive and releasable materials
• Material management and cleaning of tools and containers
• Accurate use of software (MS Office, MATS, maintenance tools)
• Working in controlled zones with protective equipment
• Operating lifting and transport equipment (cranes, forklifts, platforms)
• Participating in on-call duties

Job requirements

• A2 diploma in a technical field (mechanics, electricity, pneumatics)
• Hands-on mentality and sense of responsibility
• Strong safety awareness
• Able to work independently and in a team
• Structured and versatile approach
