Thermodynamic database of various impurities from Pb
Among the heavy liquid metals used as nuclear coolants one could highlight lead and lead bismuth eutectic. In the last few years significant effort has been devoted to the research on the latter, including the release of various radionuclides, both theoretically and experimentally. Because of the large number of radioactive impurities generated because of nuclear reactions, i.e. almost the whole periodic table, it is impossible to perform experiments to determine physicochemical properties that characterize the release behavior of these radioactive impurities. To estimate the release behavior of all these impurities during the MYRRHA project a thermochemical model was developed for the understanding of the release of these impurities. However, there is a lack of raw thermodynamic data regarding the behavior of these impurities from lead. Therefore, the student will work on an in-depth literature review to elaborate a database that could be used for the thermochemical modelling to describe the behavior of these impurities in Pb and ultimately, to decide which impurities need to be investigated experimentally
